This is what I needed to read, as I’m starting to believe it’s even possible for me to achieve. With my parents, they not only gave me the silent treatment, they treated me as unavailable even when I’m fully available and present with them. For example: my father could call for my sibling all the way when I’m right there, to help him with something. Perhaps, due to an initial argument (as he will never let me express myself), or outright fallout. Hence, making me feel the shame of having voiced out my emotions. This piece was reassuring, thank you for this. There’s nothing wrong with being myself like you rightfully pointed.
