One Realization At a Time

When you’re on a mission of personal growth and development, self-awareness is one of the most essential skills to adopt. Self-awareness further opens the doors to so many other important skills that need to be ingrained in order to achieve mastery in one area or aspect that you seek it for.

Because personal growth involves lots of required skills and behavior to inculcate and/or remove, (with the help of self-awareness), that means that you’ll tend to get a lot of eureka moments on how to go about it. If care is not taken, you may get overwhelmed with them (the realizations) and end up not utilizing any.

That’s why it’s paramount that you understand the act of implementing one skill or lesson learnt at a time — based on your epiphanies about your self or the surrounding environment— that was neglected all along.

The key here is to take it one skill, one epiphany at a time.

Like Ayodeji Awosika once said, to be fully and well-developed personally, practice one personal development skill you’ve learned for a whole week, for instance, make sure it sticks before jumping to the next.

I’ve been on a personal growth/development journey and one good way to keep track of my epiphanies in order not to get overwhelmed with them is by writing them down in my journal. This also helps me to monitor my progress after implementation of what I realized about myself /practicing a skill.

It’s exciting to engage in this personal growth/development journey which normally starts with self-awareness but it can be mentally draining when you’ve realized a lot of things to do and yet you leave them pending as that can be overwhelming. Therefore, find a means to acknowledge what you’ve learnt about yourself or environment by noting it down (mental note is allowed too), then practice that skill for a period of time until it’s ingrained and shows in your attitude (mastery) and then slowly you can begin to merge them with new ones and practice them all collectively.

One realization, one skill at a time, tells a lot on your mental organization and hence, behavioral exhibitions which sums up the progress to your personal growth/development.
