Candidly speaking

“Let’s see how it goes” …

Usually, this is a means-to-no-end type of statement. When someone says this, they are unsure, and also it always leads nowhere. Beware.

‘‘What else do you want me to do?’’

If someone offends you and makes you feel guilty for demanding an apology or certain type of treatment that appeals to your spirit, they use the following statement above. This is the highest form of gaslight. Stick to your worth.

“It’s not you, it’s me”

This statement can be a double edge sword. On one end, you might be enabling the ill-treatment you’re receiving. On the other end, it’s strictly the other person’s fault — for someone who has chosen to treat you lesser than you deserve — as this statement springs often from that. Run.

“I don’t like talking too much”

Then communicate effectively.

“My hands are tied”

When someone makes this statement, rest assured there is likely a way out but they can’t really help you much nor make much headway. Either way, don’t believe they are.

“You won’t get it”

When people don’t want to let you into something they’re going through, they simply tell you that you won’t get it. Although sometimes they must’ve weighed the options of whether you’d truly get it or if they’re ready to dissect it in a way you’d get it. They just resort to using the statement. But this can stomp the overall ability to articulate your thoughts and convey your feelings to someone else — who might in turn help “de-stress” you — if that was the case.

These are some really simple ways to make life easier, but these diverting statements often make it hard for us. If we’ve made up our minds to do something, chances are, it took some time and thinking to get there. Therefore, avoid making these settling, backward-setting statements for our own good.

Thanks for taking the time to read.
